Jonnie Schnytzer, 31, was born in 1982 in Brisbane, opposite the Gabba. Eventually he ended up in Israel in 1985, the year the mighty Essendon Bombers won the premiership. Though he was only 3, it was a wonderful going away present from his club.

Jonnie grew up in Israel and served in the I.D.F. in a naval combat unit. Recently, after completing his master’s thesis “Soccer in Australia: a multicultural barometer”.

Jonnie is working on finalizing his first novel, an espionage thriller, and hopes to continue showcasing his photographic art. He looks forward to his upcoming photo exhibition “Israeli society: one home for many tenants”.

Jonnie is currently the adviser to the CEO to Taglit-Birthright Israel, a non-profit company that offers a free ten day educational trip to Israel and is considered to be one of the most successful organizations in the Jewish world today.

AUJS participates in the Taglit-Birthright programme, offering young people the opportunity, free of charge, to visit Israel.
